# Sites

> Understand exact-origin registration, active-Site limits, pausing, and archival.

A Site is one registered web application at one exact HTTP or HTTPS origin.

| Valid Site | Why |
| --- | --- |
| `https://checkout.example.com` | One exact secure origin |
| `https://admin.example.com` | A different web app and a different origin |

`*.example.com` is not a Site. `http://example.com` and `https://example.com` are different origins. Ports also matter: `https://example.com:8443` is not the same origin as `https://example.com`.

## Register a Site

Registration requires three values:

1. A human-readable name, such as `Checkout`.
2. The exact origin, such as `https://checkout.example.com`.
3. A primary URL to open, such as `https://checkout.example.com/cart`.

The web app then installs the connected SDK with the returned Site ID. Registration alone does not place AppNotes in the web app.

An organization API key can register a Site through `POST /v1/orgs/{orgId}/appnotes/sites`. This is the path used by coding agents and automated setup.

```json
{
  "name": "Checkout",
  "origin": "https://checkout.example.com",
  "primary_url": "https://checkout.example.com/cart"
}
```

## Active Sites and plans

Registering, opening, or configuring a Site does not make it active. A Site becomes active for the current UTC month when its first annotation mutation succeeds.

- Free includes one active Site each UTC month.
- Team includes 25 active Sites each UTC month.
- Registered and archived Sites are unlimited on both plans.

The count is enforced by AppNotes. It is not a Stripe quantity or usage meter. Deleting and re-registering an origin does not reset its monthly activity.

## Pause, archive, and delete

Pausing a Site stops connected review while preserving its feedback and identity. Archiving removes it from the primary list without deleting history. Deletion is destructive and removes the Site with its owned feedback; it should be used only when that data is no longer needed.
