Connected mode synchronizes organization-owned Sites, notes, replies, teammates, guests, history, screenshots, and agent activity. The live website remains the canvas.
Launch flow
- A member opens a registered Site from AppNotes.
- The service mints a short-lived Site session for that exact origin.
- AppNotes opens the Site with an
ant1.launch credential in the URL fragment. - The SDK consumes and removes the fragment before its first request.
- The credential remains confined to the browser session.
The SDK is dormant without a valid launch or same-origin session. A Site session cannot be reused on another origin.
Notes and targets
An element note has one primary target and may include up to seven additional element targets. Each target stores enough locator evidence to find the element again as the interface changes. Text selections and regions remain single-target.
Each note belongs to one Site and can have replies. A note can be open or resolved. Connected history records whether an author was a member, an agent, or a guest.
Review comments on the Site
Open the AppNotes comment list to browse feedback. Choose All pages to see comments grouped by page, or This page to narrow the list. Open and resolved comments have separate filters.
- Hover over a comment for the current page to highlight its visible targets. Hovering does not scroll or navigate the website.
- Open a comment to read its conversation and saved image. Choose Show element to move to a target on the current page.
- For a comment on another page, choose Open page. Reading or hovering over that comment does not navigate automatically.
- If an element has moved or disappeared, its comment and saved image remain readable. AppNotes reports when it cannot find the target.
- Resolve a completed conversation to move it out of the open list. Reopen it when more work is needed.
Images
When you select an element, the SDK prepares an image while you write. You do not need a separate capture integration.
The default Selected area image covers the visible selection with nearby context. Multiple targets share one image. Clipping and the viewport limit what appears; offscreen content is not revealed or scrolled into view.
Before saving, you can:
- Choose Visible page for the current viewport instead of the selected area. This is not a full-page capture.
- Choose Recapture image after the page changes.
- Choose Remove image to save only the comment and element context.
The preview stays in a reserved area while the image prepares. Saving does not wait for capture. An image already preparing can attach after the comment saves if capture succeeds. Submission does not start a new capture.
AppNotes saves the comment before attaching its image. If capture is unavailable, the comment remains saved without an image. If the upload fails, its status offers a retry when possible. Retry the attachment rather than creating another comment. The retry uses the original image, not a new capture.
Keep the review tab on the same page until the attachment is confirmed. Navigating away or ending the session stops pending capture and upload work.
What the image represents
SnapDOM reconstructs visible DOM content and styles inside the browser. The result is visual evidence from capture time, not a pixel-perfect browser screenshot or a live view. Opening a saved comment does not recapture the page.
Fonts or images blocked by CSP or CORS can be missing. Embedded frame content is omitted. Animations, video, canvas, and complex visual effects can differ from what the reviewer saw. A changing page can invalidate capture; try again when it settles.
Check the preview before saving. Private fields and marked regions are omitted from capture.
Saved images
Each note can have zero or one private image. Older notes and comments saved without an image remain valid. Images are available with the note in the live-site panel and AppNotes dashboard, and through the API and MCP.
Hosted AppNotes stores image objects separately from the note record. An authenticated read is required; the storage object is not a public image URL.
Local notes stay local
Connected mode has no automatic import path from local mode. Signing in, opening a Site, or switching the SDK configuration never uploads private browser notes. Export is the explicit local-to-team handoff.
